OK this is spooky... I am reading this thread and the NASCAR race broadcast is on the TV. They play a bit on Dale Jr and his announcement of the past week. All of a sudden I realize that TSM is playing in the background (Pharaoh's Daughter I think it was). That was eerie.

It seems to me that for the most part, when I look back at all the great bands that have split (due to creative differences), that they have never quite ever been as good as they were wben they were originally together...Waters & Gilmour, Lennon & McCartney (actually, Lennon did some pretty good solo stuff - there are some exceptions, but few). Same for bands whose members have died...Keith Moon, Jim Morrison...a lot of bands split because they feel one of the other members aren't doing their share. My contention is that it is almost virtually impossible for all band members to contribute equally to their group - there will always be a creative genius; one who can improve and expound upon that genius; one who has the chops to make the vision a reality and maybe others who are just good players and keep that band on its toes musically though maybe not major contributors. I still think they're all equally important.

It really depends who wrote the songs?! Is Benjamin the song writer in the group or did they write them together? We Can't wait to hear it.

I am sad to hear that Benjamin is leaving. He's a great guitarist and brought a great sound to the band. If I ever wind up being a guitar player he is one of my major influences. That being said, I think a replacement will be needed. I would suggest Tim Lash, former guitarist for Hum. Sound is completely different, slight more heavy metal, but I think he fits in philosophically with you guys. Just me playing Rick Rubin. Tim is one of the best guitarists I've ever heard but never gets recognition. Maybe you guys could coax him out of retirement.
