Wow that shocked me a wee bit. I've been listening to all kinds of music, you know when you're in one of those moods where any song sounds good? Marconi's radio came on and i thought, hey why not see how TSM are doing, if there's any new albums or anything and I find this!

I wish him all the best mind you. People need change now and again, so good luck to Ben. As for the other two, I trust the third album will be awesome regardless of who's in the band. So cheer up people

I was 'Sad and Lonely' when I read this news. The good and the bad 'All At Once'. 'I Want To Know If Its Still Possible' for TSM to continue their amazing live show. I am not going to lie, 'I hate Pretending', 'I'll Still See You' when you come near my city. When 'The Leaves Are Gone' and your 'Nowhere Again' just remember 'The Road Leads Where Its Lead' and While 'It's A Bad Wind That Don't Blow Somebody Some Good' we will get a 3rd full length from the 2 members of the band...some good was blown.

I really think the live show may be effected but I do not think the albums will be. Do we have any Dungen fans? 1 man plays just about everything on those albums and they are very rich and full. I have no doubts Brandon and Josh will be able to continue what they believe the Secret Machines should be. This should be no different from the changes we experienced from album to album. The 'Lights On' at the end of this mess, just 'Breathe', and if its tough on you 'Better Bring Your Friends' cause there is no reason to be alone or jealous. However this was perfect reason to be stoned.

Does anyone know if Brandon plays guitar? Is he confident enough in his own ability on guitar to write the band's guitar parts if they choose to have any?


Im just wondering because its clear that if they wanted to, they could record and write everything as a two in the studio, its just live that would be an issue...

Man you get busy and don't really have the time to be checking the internet as much anymore and what happens only a band member in one of your favourite bands leaves. Just read through all 6 pages of posts and its clear that everyone including myself is shocked by the news, however I think that if Benjamin's heart is now in School of Seven Bells I would rather he go and pursue that then stay in TSM and have the whole What If? hanging over him.

TSM will not be the same threesome again (unless they reunite somewhere down the line) but I have to say it does make me a little excited to hear what is gonna come out of both bands in the future. Remember a change can be a good thing rather than a bad one.

haven't chimed in in a while, but I'm only the more curious, and excited, about what the future holds for both groups.

Well. All I can say is good luck to all of you, and Brandon and Josh: Please do not try to do everything yourselves. It's going to be too hard on you physically. Find someone who feeds your energy and re-charges your batteries.

Oh my God! I haven't checked the website in couple of weeks and I log in to see this!!! I am utterly devastated...I know that people are free to play music with whom ever they wish, but I just loved the three of these guys together so much. Yet, it is a funny thing - when I was at the last couple of shows in NYC, I was starting to have the strangest feeling about the band and sensed that something like this might happen. I believe TSM will have a new guitarist and I think I know why. I just hope they haven't done this too hastily. I care about all of them but it almost seems like a case of growing pains - and as much as I respect all of them and their absolute right to do it, I am terribly sad that this has happened. I was so looking forward to the next time they were going to be coming around.

Thanks for all the great shows and the wonderful music, TSM - and thanks Brandon for letting us know...I hope you all will be happy, but I have to admit that I am terribly sad at athe moment. Love & Peace to all of you.

o.k. - as lousy as I feel about all of this, I just read Joel's post of March 10th and I just sat in my chair laughing hysterically for about 5 minutes...(maybe hysterically being the key word at the moment)..anyway, thanks for the laugh, Joel!

so, i kind of forgot to mention this earlier. whoops..

during my talk with the guys (and girl) from the silent years, they learned of my TSMlove, and mentioned the recent news.. after getting upset that they even would bring it up (not really), josh (lead singer) said that he heard from some official TSM person that brandon and josh have turned in 5 new songs already and that they sound absolutely fantastic, even compared to the last 7 years.

so that was encouraging. just thought i'd share that cheerful bit of information with you lovely people.
